Martin and I started at the NAO on the same day, where he built reputation for excellence in his job working on high profile audits; he was proud of his achievements there. Spending time with Martin, usually over a burger and a drink or two, I enjoyed his company and will miss his sense of humour, his opinions and unassumingly passionate defence on them, his firm but fair attitude, his polite way of saying no when asked to try something new, his suspicious look when asked a personal question, but most of all being a friend.
